Adorable cup cake café in Harlem

Make My Cake made my day. A beautiful sunny day with a bright blue sky. All alone in the street I waited for friends to join me for a gospel service up in Harlem. At 9.30 am the streets were empty - so I parked my bike and looked around. And there it was. This adorable pink café with multicolor butterflies and the cutest cuppies ever. The staff is amazing and now I know its family run. Absolutely fab.

About strolling

Strolling New York is my way of experiencing and exploring our beautiful city. I am not - have never been and will never be - a tourist. Anywhere. Touristing gives me angst and a wish to be elsewhere. I live places. Giving myself plenty of time and space.

Therefore this blog is for that someone who - like me - wants to see and breathe this city. Without trashing whining and complaining. Without chafed feet and time running. Strolling for the cupcake cafés vintage shops cycle tracks book stores wifi spots. Anything that I appreciate myself. Feel free to post comments recommendations suggestions corrections - or just pure and plain love.

Part from my dashing and sizzling short stories I will provide with useful info such as addresses hours and links. All posts are marked with the areas used in NFT and found through my search engine.
* Rethink the trip to NYC. The pollution of a flight from Europe to NYC way overshadows a short stay as a tourist. Either postpone the trip or stay for a longer time while you are at it.
* All photos on this blog are my own - part from logos of course - and I do appreciate if anyone who uses my photos links back to this page.

About biking in New York

Biking is easily the fastest and healthiest way of commuting in New York. It is not - I repeat - not dangerous to bike here. It only takes some focus. And it is FUN. This is my blue Huffy with no gears. It cost me 100 dollars - only 20 dollars more than a 30-day Metrocard. Distances within Manhattan Williamsburg Brooklyn and Queens are definitely bikeable. Under the tag biking I will continuously give updates on how to bike New York. So stay tuned.

About me

Photo Pernilla Persson.
Studying international law at Lund University and RWI in Sweden. Last fall I did an internship at the United Nations here in New York. Currently writing my master thesis on how to prevent armed conflict.

Part from soon being a lawyer I am also a graphic designer. Last summer I designed our family's bakery book - published at Klefstad Publishing. The book will published in English the 1st of July.

Coming from a farm in Sweden I am very concerned about our environment and the climate change. I love to bike and do bike everywhere I go in New York - including Williamsburg Brooklyn Queens and Harlem. So beware of my best biker tips..!

About på svenska

So to speak. För den som vill läsa mina funderingar på svenska hänvisar jag till elina elina elina - etiketten New York. Man får också väldigt gärna mejla mig på elinajonsson [at]
